Biographical Information

Doug Noce played two seasons in the minors. He helped Cal Poly Obispo win the 1989 Division II College World Series, the first (and as of 2010, only) title in school history. After being named the NCAA Division II All-American catcher in 1990, he was picked by the Montréal Expos in the 41st round of the 1990 amateur draft. Amazingly for such a late round, the players picked before and after him both wound up in the majors - John Wasdin and Brian Raabe.

Noce hit .251/.361/.328 for the 1990 Gate City Pioneers. He bounced around the Expos chain in 1991, with stops for the Sumter Flyers (.119/.227/.143 in 29 G), West Palm Beach Expos (3 for 13, BB) and Indianapolis Indians (1 for 12) to finish his pro career with a .205/.310/.260 batting line. He fielded .984.

Noce later served as assistant coach at his alma mater. When a scandal involving possible misuse of student aid arose and Steve McFarland took a leave of absence, Noce and fellow assistant Kent Agler served as co-head coaches for 1994. He later coached Allan Hancock College.

He is the brother of Paul Noce and son of John Noce.
