Team History[edit]
Based in the border town of Nuevo Laredo in the state of Tamaulipas, the Tecolotes de los Dos Laredos, originally called the Tecolotes de Nuevo Laredo, are members of the Mexican League. They first played from 1949 to 1959, winning titles in 1953, 1954 and 1958 in their most successful span ever before leaving town in 1959. The Tecolotes returned to Nuevo Laredo in 1976. In 1985 the team began splitting their home games between Nuevo Laredo and Laredo, TX on the American side of the border. The club kept up this arrangement for 19 years until 2003 when they relocated to Tijuana, Baja California. The Tecos returned in 2008 when the Rieleros de Aguascalientes moved in. But three years later they would leave town too. In 2018 the Rojos del Águila de Veracruz moved in and took up the Tecolotes name.
