Biographical Information[edit]
Pitcher Dick Cooke played in the Boston Red Sox chain from 1979 to 1981.
He was an assistant coach at his alma mater from 1984 to 1988. He then moved to Belmont Abbey College as head coach in 1990. Cooke was the head coach at Davidson College from 1991-2018. He coached for the USA in the 1999 Pan American Games, the 2003 Pan American Games (they won Silver), 2007 Baseball World Cup and in the 2008 Olympics, when they won Bronze. In 2012, he was critically injured in a car crash; the other driver was charged with driving while impaired and reckless driving.
