Biographical Information[edit]

Devon Ramirez has played for the Philippines national team and in the minors..

Ramirez had a .459 OBP as a freshman at Cal State LA, then went 1-0 with eight games as a sophomore. In 2011, he relieved in one game and pinch-ran in six others for Cal State Dominguez Hills. He hit .337/.394/.416 in 2012 and went 0-3 with a 10.08 ERA, .348 opponent average and 24 walks in 27 1/3 IP. He was the leadoff hitter and center fielder for the Philippines in the 2013 World Baseball Classic Qualifiers, going 3 for 11 with two walks and one steal in two tries. He also pitched in relief against New Zealand, relieving Charlie Labrador in the 6th and allowing five hits, three walks and four runs (three earned) in 1 2/3 IP, before being replaced by Vladimir Eguia during a 10-6 loss. He tied Fernando Laurel and Chad Nacapoy for second on the team in hits, behind Ryan Pineda, and led with 3 RBI. On the other hand, he had the third-worst ERA on the staff after Romeo Jasmin Jr. and Max Javate.

He was 4-4 with a 4.56 ERA for the 2014 Vallejo Admirals. In '15, he was with the Admirals (2-7, 4.84) and Pittsburg Mettle (5 R, 10 BB in 4 1/3 IP, 0-1). He was 1 for 14 with 3 walks and a run as a part-time outfielder as well. His eight losses tied Demetrius Banks and David Dinelli for the Pacific Association lead. In the 2017 World Baseball Classic Qualifiers, he was 0 for 3 with two strikeouts as the left fielder in the opener against Australia. He then started the Philippines' second game, against New Zealand, and allowed 4 hits, 2 walks and 2 runs (1 earned) in 2 2/3 IP before Kevin Vance relieved and let one of the inherited runners score. He still had the best ERA of any of the six Philippines hurlers that day at 6.75; Ryan Juarez was next at double that, 13.50.
