Biographical Information[edit]
Chad Nacapoy made his pro debut in 2012.
Nacapoy hit .424 as a high school senior. At BYU, he was 6 for 28 with 5 walks, two doubles and a homer his freshman year. As a sophomore, he hit .351 and slugged .684 as a backup. Transferring to Cal State LA, he batted .264 with a team-high 8 homers and 9 steals as a junior. He hit .361 as a senior, missing significant time with injuries. The Tampa Bay Rays still took him in the 38th round of the 2012 amateur draft. He made his pro debut with the Princeton Rays and put up a .244/.375/.267 line as their third-string catcher.
In the 2013 World Baseball Classic Qualifiers, Nacapoy was the starting catcher and hit second for the Philippines national team. He went 3 for 12 with a walk, error, two passed balls and two runs for the tourney, going 2 for 6 in a win over Thailand, 0 for 2 in a loss to Taiwan and 1 for 4 in a loss to New Zealand.
