Biographical Information[edit]

David Mixon peaked at AAA.

Mixon was 2-8 with a 5.76 ERA for Louisiana-Monroe in 2006, finishing third in the Southland Conference in losses. The Arizona Diamondbacks took him in the 47th round of the 2006 amateur draft but he did not sign. In 2007, he improved to 5-1, 3.28 with 8 saves. He tied for second in the Southeastern Conference in saves. The San Francisco Giants, behind scout Andrew Jefferson, took him in the 20th round of the 2007 amateur draft, one round before Dan Otero.

In his pro debut, David went 2-0 with a 2.05 ERA in 17 games for the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes, though his WHIP was 1.63. In 2008, he was 2-2 with 5 saves and a 1.55 ERA for the Augusta Greenjackets. He split 2009 between the San Jose Giants (3-1, 2 Sv, 3.29) and Fresno Grizzlies (3 R in 2 2/3 IP, 0-1). On September 3, he teamed with fellow San Jose hurlers Ryan Shaver and Rafael Cova in a no-hitter of the Inland Empire 66ers.

In 2010, he became a starter for the Richmond Flying Squirrels and fared very well at 11-7, 3.50. He was 7th in the Eastern League in ERA (between Daryl Maday and Zach Stewart) and tied D.J. Mitchell and Justin Wilson for 7th in wins. Among Giants farmhands, he was 5th in strikeouts (112) and tied Jorge Bucardo for 3rd in wins. During 2011, Mixon pitched for San Jose (5-1, 2 Sv, 2.59, 6 BB in 48 2/3 IP), Richmond (3.60 ERA in 3 G) and Fresno (Sv, 13 R in 12 2/3 IP), presumably ending his career (he has not pitched since as of August 7, 2013).

Mixon was 23-12 with 9 saves and a 3.30 ERA in 128 minor league games (37 starts).
