Biographical Information[edit]

Danilo Álvarez has been a minor league pitcher.

Álvarez signed with the Atlanta Braves in December 2006; the scout was Rolando Petit. He went 4-2 with a 2.72 ERA for the 2007 DSL Braves, allowing 29 hits in 39 2/3 IP. He had a 3-2, 2.90 record for the same club in '08. Moving to the US, he was 1-2 with a save and a 3.79 ERA for the 2009 GCL Braves. On July 7, he was the middle man of a 3-man, 7-inning no-hitter started by Ronan Pacheco and finished by Jamie Hayes against the GCL Blue Jays.

He split 2010 between the GCL Braves (1-1, 2.21, 12 H in 20 1/3 IP) and Danville Braves (0-1, 5 R, 5 H, 3 BB in 2 2/3 IP). The next year, he pitched again for Danville (0-1, 1 R in 3 IP) and was 6-5 with a 4.73 ERA for the Rome Braves. He was second on Rome in wins, one behind Aaron Northcraft, despite being a reliever.

He pitched a fine inning for the Nicaraguan national team in the 2013 World Baseball Classic Qualifiers. Relieving Ricky Martínez with a 6-1 deficit in the bottom of the 7th, he struck out former big leaguer Jolbert Cabrera and got major leaguer Jhonatan Solano to fly out before retiring Diover Ávila. He was relieved by Mainor Mora in the 8th.
