Biographical Information[edit]

Jamie Hayes was a minor league pitcher for two years.

Hayes went 1-0 with four saves and a 3.68 ERA as a college freshman. His sophomore year, he was 1-2 with 11 saves and a 4.50 ERA. He was second in the Metro Atlantic Conference in saves. He saved 11 more games as a junior (3-2, 3.16, 41 K in 31 1/3 IP). He also hit .336/.408/.399 with 52 runs in 57 games. He made All-Conference as a utility man and was named the Conference Pitcher of the Year. He led the conference with 37 steals (in 44 tries) and 80 hits (tied) as well as saves. He was 10th in NCAA Division I in steals and tied for 18th in saves. He fell to 2-2, 4.50 with 7 saves as a senior, stole 26 bases while only being caught 3 times, scored 55 runs in 49 games and batted .330/.466/.431. He led the conference in saves and was second in swipes.

The Atlanta Braves took him in the 48th round of the 2009 amateur draft, one pick after Randolph Oduber and two rounds before they chose Josh Edgin. He was 1-0 with four saves, a 0.61 ERA and .96 WHIP for the 2009 GCL Braves. On July 7, he closed out a 3-man, 7-inning no-hitter against the GCL Blue Jays; Ronan Pacheco and Danilo Álvarez had preceded him on the mound. Hayes fell to a 6.38 ERA and 1.69 WHIP for the 2010 Danville Braves to end his career.
