Biographical Information

DJ Peters was a high profile prospect in the Los Angeles Dodgers organization from the time he was drafted in the fourth round of the 2016 Amateur Draft. He made his major league debut in 2021. He is also tall, at 6 ft. 6 in.

DJ was born in 1995 in Glendora, CA, less than 30 miles from Dodger Stadium. He attended Glendora High School, also known as the high school of Ed Kirkpatrick, Aaron Rowand, Brian Cooper, Adam Plutko and Ed Pierce. His college was Western Nevada College, previously attended by Mason Tobin.

DJ started out in the rookie league with the Ogden Raptors, drawing attention with his .351 batting average and .615 SLG. Moved up to A+ ball, he hit 27 home runs for the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes as his average dropped to .276. He won Player of the Year honors. In 2018 he increased the home run total to 29 at Tulsa as the batting average dropped to .236. He remained with Tulsa in 2019 for 68 games, hitting 11 home runs with a .241 batting average before being elevated to AAA where he hit 12 home runs with a .260 average in 57 games.

Defensively, Peters plays primarily center field.

In 2020, he was added to the Dodgers' 40-man roster. The Dodgers were concerned about needing more right-handed bats, and DJ bats that way. Although part of the roster, he did not appear in a game during the regular season that year, but made his major league debut in the early days of the 2021 season. In the first half of the season, Peters got into 18 games with the Dodgers, putting up an OPS+ of 111, but did not hit well in the minors and was put on waivers. The Texas Rangers selected him off waivers in early August and made him a regular outfielder. He responded by hitting for a good deal of power, with a peak on August 29th when he hit a home run, double and sacrifice fly off Zack Greinke of the Houston Astros, as well as a single off reliever Phil Maton.

In 2022 Peters signed to play for the Lotte Giants in the KBO. In 2023 Peters was in the Detroit Tigers organization, serving as a pitcher in the Florida Complex League, a rookie-level league.
