College World Series Super Regionals
Beginning in 1988, the field of teams for the College World Series was 48, broken into 8 6-team Regionals, with the 8 winners advancing directly to the College World Series.
The format was changed in 1999 to include 64 team, broken into 16 4-team Regionals. The 16 winners advance to one of 8 2-team Super Regionals. The Super Regionals are a best of three format, with the winner advancing to the College World Series.
