Biographical Information[edit]

Chung-Nan Tu is a former Olympic catcher.

Tu played for the Taiwan national team in the 1982 Amateur World Series, 1983 Asian Championship, 1984 Amateur World Series (3 for 21, 2B) 1984 Olympics, 1985 Asian Championship, 1985 Intercontinental Cup, 1986 Amateur World Series, 1987 Asian Championship, 1987 Intercontinental Cup and 1989 World Port Tournament. Taiwan won a Silver at the 1984 Amateur World Series and Bronze in the 1986 Amateur World Series as well as Medals in the Asian Championship. He also served in the Taiwan army in this period, playing for their baseball team.

When the Chinese Professional Baseball League formed in 1990, Tu signed with the Mercuries Tigers and hit .196/.260/.208. He was 3-for-18 in the 1990 Taiwan Series, and the Tigers were beaten by the Wei Chuan Dragons in 6 games. Tu also attended the 1990 CPBL All-Star Game, and he was 1-for-5 with a double. He batted .222/.258/.261 in 1991 and .280/.321/.322 in 1992. In the 1992 CPBL All-Star Game, Tu was 2-for-3 with 4 RBI. He went just 7 for 47 for the 1993 Tigers then was 1 for 13 for the 1994 Jungo Bears to end his career.

Overall, Tu hit .222/.268/.252 with 164 hits in 5 seasons in the CPBL.
