Biographical Information[edit]

Chun-suh Koo played in the KBO for 12 years. His twin brother Jae-seo Koo also played in the KBO.

Koo joined the OB Bears with his twin brother when the KBO was founded in 1982, and he hit .308/.405/.421 with 5 triples that season. He led the league in triples (tied with Dong-kyun Yun and Kyeong-nam Kim), and he was 9th in batting (between Woo-yeol Kim and Sung-han Kim). Koo was 5-for-21 in the 1982 Korean Series, and he won his only title. He recorded a .279/.360/.406 batting line in 1983, then he slumped to .229/.324/.279 in 1984. He played 94 games with a .235/.354/.292 batting line and 17 steals in 1985, and he was 7th in steals (33 behind Jae-bak Kim). Koo struggled again in 1986 as his batting line was .205/.301/.282, then he batted .218/.279/.269 in 1987. He recorded a .221/.371/.319 batting line in 1988, and he hit .226/.333/.293 in 1989.

The Daegu native bounced back with a .290/.379/.408 batting line in 1990, then he slumped to .201/.281/.286 in 1991. He had a .230/.308/.337 batting line in 1992, and he announced his retirement after having a 0-for-5 record in 1993. Koo later became the fielding coach for the Ssangbangwool Raiders from 1997 to 1999, for the SK Wyverns minor league team from 2000 to 2003, for the KIA Tigers minor league team from 2005 to 2009, for the Hanwha Eagles from 2010 to 2011 and for their minor league team in 2012. Koo joined the newly-founded NC Dinos as their minor league fielding coach from 2013 to 2017, and he was the assistant coach for Korea University in 2019. Seorak High School named him their coach in 2020.

Overall, Koo hit .244/.340/.329 with 455 hits and 22 homers in 12 seasons in the KBO.
