Biographical Information[edit]

Chun-Sheng Huang has caught in the CPBL.

Huang represented Taiwan in the 2005 World Youth Championship. The Brother Elephants drafted him in the seventh round of the 2010 CPBL Draft, but he spent his first two seasons in the minor league. Huang debuted in 2012 as the backup catcher behind Chih-Hong Chen, and he hit .231/.273/.301 in 58 games. However, he suffered a left knee injury before the 2013 season, and he only played 20 games. Huang came back and hit .252/.272/.313 in 54 games in 2014. He was 1-for-5 in the 2014 Taiwan Series, and the CTBC Brothers were beaten by the Lamigo Monkeys in 5 games. [1]

Due to Huang's terrible defense, he didn't get many chances in the next two seasons, as he only played 45 games combined. The Brothers' new manager, Cory Snyder, named him as the new starting catcher in 2017, and he hit .256/.302/.378 with 2 homers. He was 0-for-5 in the 2017 Taiwan Series, and the Monkeys beat the Brothers again in 5 games. Huang improved to .272/.302/.344 in 2018, and he had his career year in 2019. Huang hit .265/.320/.339 in a career-high 98 games, and he was also selected into the 2019 CPBL All-Star Game; he was struck out in both his two at-bats. In the 2019 Taiwan Series, Huang was 1-for-5 and the Monkeys beat the Brothers in 5 games. However, when prospect Yu-Chieh Kao shined in 2020, Huang lost his spot and he never played more than 25 games in the next three seasons. He spent nearly his entire 2023 season in the minor league, and he only had 10 at-bats with the big club.[2]
