Biographical Information[edit]

Chuck Lamson pitched as high as AA then became an executive.

Lamson was picked by the Texas Rangers in the 10th round of the 1977 amateur draft, going one pick after Ron Tingley. He spent the summer with the GCL Rangers (4-3, 2.35) and Asheville Tourists (1-0, 4.20). Back with Asheville in '78, he posted a 10-11, 3.94 record with 96 walks in 160 innings. He tied Jose Brito and John Butcher for 8th in the Western Carolinas League in wins, tied for second in losses and was 4th in walks. He moved up to the Tulsa Drillers in 1979 and was 11-8 with a 3.28 ERA. He tied Bob Tufts for the Texas League lead in victories and tied for 4th in wins, behind Tufts, Bill Earley and Herman Segelke. He had a better ERA than the five future major leaguers on the Drillers staff.

Despite his success in 1979, he was back with Tulsa in 1980 and didn't do as well this time: 6-8, 4.83, 51 BB in 108 IP. He split 1981 between Tulsa (1-0, 4.50) and the Durham Bulls (5.40 ERA) to end his playing career. Overall, he had gone 33-30 with a 3.83 ERA in 93 minor league games.

Chuck returned to Tulsa, this time as a groundskeeper in 1982. HE became assistant GM in 1984 and was promoted to general manager in 1996. In 2006, he became Tulsa's owner. He was Texas League Executive of the Year in 1996, 1998 and 2010. In 2012, he was inducted into the Texas League Hall of Fame.
