Biographical Information[edit]

Second baseman Christopher McFarland played in the Milwaukee Brewers minor league system from 2012 to 2016. He was taken in the 18th round of the 2011 amateur draft, a few picks after pitcher Shawn Armstrong and one ahead of outfielder Travis Taijeron. He was signed by scout Jeremy Booth for a $315,000 bonus. He hit .301/.358/.433 with 6 home runs and 15 stolen bases in 72 games for the Helena Brewers his first year, leading the Pioneer League in at-bats (282) and tying Alfredo Rodriguez and Wade Hinkle for the lead in games played. He never hit .300 or better again. He had good speed, swiping 30 bags in 2014 and 20 in 2015. In 2015, while with the Brevard County Manatees, he led the Florida State League in games (137, tied with Clint Coulter), plate appearances (591) and at-bats (547), while his 150 hits were second in the league, behind only Austin Meadows' 156. Overall, McFarland batted .263/.311/.354 with 20 home runs, 191 RBI and 76 stolen bases in 476 games over five seasons. He peaked at Double A.

He was a MiLB.com Organization All-Star in 2014 and 2015 and a Florida State League Mid- and Post-Season All-Star in 2015.
