AA or Double-A has been the second highest level of the minor leagues since 1946 when AAA was added. From 1912 through 1945 AA was the highest rank. The leagues at this level have been the:

AA after the 2021 minor league reorganization:

• Double-A Central (2021-)
• Double-A Northeast (2021-)
• Double-A South (2021-)

AA since 1946 or later until 2019:

• Eastern League (1963-2019)
• Texas League (1946-2019)
• Southern League (1964-2019)
• Mexican League (1955-1966)
• Southern Association (1946-1961)
• South Atlantic League (1963)

Pre-1946 AA:

• International League (1912-1945)
• Pacific Coast League (1912-1945)
• American Association (1912-1945)
