Biographical Information[edit]
Chris Unrat played in the minor leagues and for Team Canada.
Unrat was drafted by the Texas Rangers in the 15th round of the 1993 Amateur Draft, and he hit .290/.348/.565 for the Erie Sailors and .258/.342/.323 for the GCL Rangers in his first season. He then crushed 7 homers with a .214/.324/.375 batting line for the Charleston RiverDogs in 1994, and he played 66 games with a .250/.335/.326 batting line for the Port Charlotte Rangers in 1995. Unrat hit .274/.395/.378 in Port Charlotte in 1996, and he went 10-for-55 for the Tulsa Drillers. He had a 11-for-51 record for the Drillers in 1997, and he went to the San Francisco Giants system. Unrat hit .244/.365/.356 in 59 games for the San Jose Giants after changing teams, and he also went 4-for-12 with the Shreveport Captains and 1-for-2 with the Phoenix Firebirds. He then batted .290/.367/.406 with 5 homers for the independent Pacific Suns, and he crushed 4 homers with a .280/.379/.402 batting line for the Sioux City Explorers in 1999. Unrat also represented Canada in the 2001 Baseball World Cup. Splitting catching with Jamie Pogue, he was 2 for 8 with two doubles, a run and a RBI, throwing out 2 of 4 who tried to steal and making no errors. [1]
Overall, Unrat hit .260/.362/.386 with 377 hits and 31 homers in 7 seasons in the minor leagues.
