The Pacific Suns of Oxnard, California played in the independent Western Baseball League for just one season, 1998. The club began the year managed by Jim Derrington, who was replaced by John Wood during the season. Overall, the team went 27-62 and finished in distant last place in their division in both halves of the season. The Suns were led by third baseman Frank Valdez, who hit .341 (8th in the league), and pitcher Ken Krahenbuhl, who posted a 3.51 ERA, fifth in the WL. They had no All-Stars. The club average of .246 was 29 points lower than any other team in the league and they scored 343 runs, 116 less than the next team, the Tri-City Posse. The club drew just under 50,000 fans and folded following their only season.
