Biographical Information[edit]
The brother of Nyls Nyman, Chris Nyman hit .296 with 16 home runs and 91 RBI with the Edmonton Trappers in 1981. The next season, he returned to Edmonton and hit .335 with 14 homers and 92 RBI.
Nyman played with the Chicago White Sox in 1982 and 1983, hitting 2 home runs in his major league career. His first was on June 2, 1983 against the Kansas City Royals off pitcher Larry Gura. The second came on September 28th of the same year against the Oakland A's, off Tim Conroy.
Chris went to Arizona State University from 1975-1977, at a time when the team went to the College World Series each year. Many of his teammates eventually came to the major leagues, including among others Ken Landreaux, Bob Horner and Ken Phelps.
Nyman started in the minors in 1977, hitting .300, and was in the White Sox organization through 1983. After spending 1984 and 1985 in Japan playing for the Nankai Hawks, he returned to the White Sox affiliate, the Buffalo Bisons, in 1986 and also played for the Detroit Tigers' affiliate, the Nashville Sounds that year.
