When the two league merged in 2003, Chuang was assigned to the Macoto Gida. The Gida decided to use Chuang as a two-way player, but he didn't play well in both batting and pitching. He had a 7.71 ERA in 16 1/3 innings, and hit .125/.222/.188 on the plate. Chuang mainly played outfielder from 2004 to 2005, but he only record a .177/.250/.226 and .192/.185/.423 batting line respectively. He came back to the mound, recorded a 5.32 ERA in 23 2/3 innings and batted .234/.275/.297 in 2006. Chuang was a full-time pitcher in 2007, but the Macoto Cobras released him after he allowed 12 runs in 16 2/3 innings.

The Uni-President Lions signed Chuang on the 2008, and he gave up pitching since this year. Chuang was a utility player for the Lions, but his hitting was still poor. He hit .268/.362/.439 in his first year with them. The Tainan native recorded a .235/.313/.303 with a career-high 71 games played in the next year, and improved to .262/.331/.317 in 2010. After hitting .283/.348/.367 but playing only 33 games, Chuang announced his retirement and became a coach after the 2011 season. He was the defense coach for the Lions' minor league team from 2012 to 2014 and 2016, then served in the same position for the Lions' major league team in 2015 and from 2017 to 2019. He was back to the minors for the Lions as the defense coach from 2019 to present (2023).

Overall, Chuang had hit .253/.317/.345 and pitched 86 1/3 innings with a 5.94 ERA in ten seasons in the CPBL and the TML. He and Wen-Chuan Lee were the only players in Taiwanese history to pitch 15+ games and bat in 15+ games in the same season (through 2023).
