Biographical Information

Chih-Wei Teng was a four-time All-Star in the CPBL.

Teng went 2 for 10 with two walks, a double and two runs for Taiwan in the 2010 World University Championship. He was picked in the second round of the 2011 CPBL Draft by the Uni-President Lions. Teng had a good rookie year in 2012, hitting his first homer off Chen-Hua Lin on April 5. He finished the year with a batting line of .273/.341/.457 with 11 HR as the team's main first baseman. He tied Chun-Yu Kuo for 8th in the league in home runs. In game 3 of the 2012 Taiwan Series, he helped his team big-time with a 4-RBI, one-homer game to win game MVP; that helped the Lions avoid falling behind the Lamigo Monkeys, 3 games to 0; his batting line was .222/.300/.400. He then represented Taiwan in the 2012 Asian Championship.

The Taitung native improved to .308/.357/.478 with 10 homers in 2013, and he was selected into the 2013 CPBL All-Star Game; he was 0-for-1. Teng ranked 8th in batting (.049 behind Yi-Chuan Lin), 6th in RBI (31 behind Tai-Shan Chang) and 4th in homers (8 behind Lin). In the 2013 Taiwan Series, Teng hit .307/.357/.538 with a homer to help the Lions sweep the EDA Rhinos. Teng slumped to .258/.339/.399 in 2014, and he also led the league in strikeouts. He still attended the 2014 CPBL All-Star Game, and he hit a double in one of his 3 at-bats.

Teng hit .267/.338/.474 in 2015, but his batting line fell to .210/.301/.387 in 2016. Thus, he lost his spot and he only played 13 games in 2017. He bounced back in 2018, hitting .287/.376/.529 with 10 homers in 64 games. On August 11, he crushed 3 homers against the Fubon Guardians while collecting 6 hits. He broke the CPBL record with 16 total bases, and he also tied Chih-Ping Lin and Kuo-Long Lo for the most hits in a game. However, Teng stayed in the minors for the next three seasons, and he only played 68 games combined. He announced his retirement after the 2021 season.

Overall, Teng hit .267/.342/.442 with 474 hits, 100 doubles and 65 homers in 10 seasons in the CPBL.
