Central Kansas League
The Central Kansas League was a Class D league that began play in 1908. After five years with that name, it became the Kansas State League in 1913; the league had not moved geographically to any new cities, but the Kansas State League name had not been available earlier as it was in use by another circuit which folded. There were fifteen cities, all from Kansas, that composed the league during its five-year existence. However, no city competed for the full five-year run. The Minneapolis squad won the league's 1908 title but it was to be their only league championship. Ellsworth was the only community to win more than one crown. They were champs in 1909 and 1910.
In 1910 Beloit moved to Chapman. In 1911, the league contracted from 8 teams to 4, but still closed up shop on July 23rd. The league returned with 6 teams in 1912, and Newton moved to Minneapolis on July 12th. The CKL league was to close its doors after the 1912 season and not form again.
