Biographical Information[edit]

Relief pitcher Casey Hoorelbeke played professionally from 2004 to 2011. He was taken by the Florida Marlins in the 29th round of the 2000 amateur draft, ahead of infielders Ian Kinsler and Adam LaRoche, but did not sign; he eventually signed as a free-agent with the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2004.

He played in the Dodgers system through 2007, reaching Triple-A for the first time that year. He was 9-2 with a 2.40 ERA in 42 games (1 start) for the Vero Beach Dodgers in 2005, earning a trip to the Arizona Fall League. He had a 9.39 ERA in 7 2/3 innings for the Phoenix Desert Dogs there. He was 2-2 with a 2.63 mark in 52 appearances for the Jacksonville Suns in 2006 (earning a spot on the Southern League Mid-Season All-Star squad) and had a 2.84 ERA in 19 frames for the AFL's Mesa Solar Sox. In his first try at Triple-A in 2007, he had a 5.55 mark in 63 games for the Las Vegas 51s. He joined the New York Mets system for 2008 and played at three levels, including a couple games at Triple-A. He had a 3.97 ERA in 36 appearances overall. He played in a different independent league each year from 2009 to 2011, with 2010 being the highlight of that run. That season, he was 10-5 with a 1.84 ERA in 52 relief appearances for the Fargo-Moorhead Redhawks.

In the affiliated minors, Hoorelbeke was 22-18 with a 3.73 ERA in 214 games (18 starts) over 5 seasons. He was 15-10, 3.54 in 122 games in indy ball. Including his time in the AFL, he was 39-29, 3.72 in 357 games over 8 seasons.

His brother, Jesse Hoorelbeke and a cousin, Sean Hoorelbeke, played in the minor leagues.
