Caribbean

From BR Bullpen

The Caribbean region refers to the portion of the Americas around the basin of the Caribbean Sea. It includes a number of larger islands such as Cuba, Hispaniola (which is divided between Haiti and the Dominican Republic), Puerto Rico and Jamaica, and smaller ones such as the Virgin Islands, St. Lucia, Grenada or Barbados. The northern coasts of Venezuela and Colombia, the islands of Aruba and Curacao, as well as all of Central America up to the Yucatan peninsula of Mexico are also part of the Caribbean. The term also sometimes extends to places outside the Caribbean basin, such as islands in the Gulf of Mexico, the Bahamas, or the three Guyanas.

The Caribbean basin has a very strong baseball tradition dating back to the 19th century, particularly in Cuba.
