Central America
Central America refers to the peninsula that connects North America with South America. It is bordered by Mexico to the North, Colombia to the south, the Pacific Ocean to the west, and the Caribbean Sea to the east.
Central America includes the following countries (from north to south): Belize, Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Costa Rica and Panama. The Mexican state of Chiapas is also sometimes included within Central America, as many of its geographical and demographic characteristics are more akin to its southern neighbors than to the rest of Mexico.
The countries of the region take part in the baseball competition in the Central American Games, which are held every four years. The top baseball nations (primarily Panama and Nicaragua) have also competed in the Central American and Caribbean Games, Pan American Games, World Baseball Classic and Olympics (Nicaragua only).
