Bryan Duquette spent four years in AAA but never made it to the major leagues.

Duquette was a top pitcher at the University of Hawai'i. In 1980, as a freshman, he struck out 127 in 114 innings for a team that finished second in the 1980 College World Series. He once reputedly punched the team van. [1] Bryan was named an All-American by both the American Baseball Coaches Association and Baseball America in 1982. [2]

Bryan was picked by the Milwaukee Brewers in the 2nd round of the 1982 amateur draft. [3] He made his professional debut with the '82 Beloit Brewers, going 3-4 with 2 saves and a 3.99 ERA in 22 games, striking out 59 in 56 1/3 IP. [4]

Duquette started 1983 with the Stockton Ports, where he was lights-out, going 4-0 with two saves and a 0.78 ERA. He allowed only 11 hits in 23 innings while striking out 31. [5] Promoted to the El Paso Diablos, he fell to 2-2, 5.83 with 9 saves in 37 games; his ERA was better than the team total of 6.22 in a high-scoring park. [6]

The southpaw was much better with El Paso in 1984, going 3-1 with a 4.03 ERA in 27 games, though he had a WHIP of 1.44. [7] Moved up to the AAA Vancouver Canadians, he gave up four runs in 11 innings. [8]

Duquette spent all of 1985 in AAA with Vancouver but didn't make it to The Show. He was 5-3 with 3 saves and a 3.25 ERA in 41 outings as the team's most-used left-hander as they won the Pacific Coast League pennant. [9]

The 25-year-old had a woeful 1986, split between El Paso (1-1, 6.27 in 13 games) and Vancouver (4-0, Sv, 7.86 in 22 outings). [10] He began 1987 back with El Paso but gave up 8 runs in 7 1/3 innings there. [11]

Moving on to the Chicago Cubs system, Duquette finished his professional career with the 1987 Iowa Cubs (1-2, 6.08, 2.03 WHIP). [12]
