Branch Rickey Award

The Branch Rickey Award is an award given to a Major League Baseball personality in recognition of their exceptional community service. It is named for former player and executive Branch Rickey and was created in 1992 by the Rotary Club of Denver.

Criteria for Awardees[edit]

The criteria for the award are:

  1. an outstanding individual currently involved in Major League Baseball -- a player, owner, manager, front office staff, scout, etc;
  2. a role model for young people as evidenced by baseball accomplishments coupled with high ethical standards;
  3. an unselfish contributor to the community whose volunteer activities exemplify Rotary International's motto, "Service Above Self."
