Biographical Information[edit]

First baseman Bobby Bradley was a third-round pick by the Cleveland Indians in the 2014 amateur draft. He started with a bang as he was named Player of the Year in the Arizona League that year, when he hit .361/.426/.652 in 39 games for the AZL Indians. In 2015, he hit 27 homers as a 19-year-old with the Lake County Captains of the Midwest League, then added 29 with the Lynchburg Hillcats of the Carolina League in 2016. He had another strong season in 2017, this time banging out 23 homers and 25 doubles in 131 games with the Akron Rubber Ducks of the Eastern League, with a slash line of .251/.331/.465. In 2018, Bobby split his time between Double A Akron and the Triple A Columbus Clippers, combining to hit .224/.308/.466, his lowest batting average since turning pro. The power was still there, with 26 doubles and 27 homers in 129 games, but he did not receive a call up to the minors.

He started the 2019 season red hot at Columbus. By mid-June, he had already passed the 20-homer mark for the 5th straight year, with 24 in just 67 games, combined with 55 RBI. He also had 17 doubles and was hitting .292. He was leading the International League in homers and Cleveland fans were asking why he was not being called up, given the major league team was struggling to put runs on the scoreboard. The call came on June 23rd, and he started at first base and batted seventh for the Indians against the Detroit Tigers, going 1 for 3 with a double and a walk in an 8-3 win. He had, in fact, just been nominated to play in the 2019 Futures Game, but the Indians declined the invitation on his behalf, as they had other plans for him. In 15 major league contests, he slashed .178/.245/.356 with a homer and 4 runs scored.
