Pat Ahearne[edit]

Support Very interesting career for a guy who played only briefly in the majors - College World Series star, AAA All-Star Game starter, AA ERA leader, pitched in five different continents, set a record in the Czech Republic. Comprehensive article. - --Mischa (talk) 08:16, 15 April 2016 (EDT)

Support If only he could have played for the Antartica Penguins, and the Nile Crocdiles, he would have had all seven continents. --Cmcgill (talk) 11:48, 18 April 2016 (EDT)

Neutral Needs some grammatical work, the introductory paragraph is a bit disjointed, and I don't think "Organized Baseball" needs to be capitalized since it is not a proper noun ... but it has potential. Alex (talk) 11:50, 18 April 2016 (EDT)

Organized Baseball was an official term - not clear on when it stopped being used. I edited the first paragraph back from Russian national team to Russian team because the European Cup is for teams from different leagues, not necessarily players from a given country. Ex. you have Fortitudo Bologna of Italy which includes a certain number of non-Italian players, whereas the Italian national team only includes guys with Italian passports. - --Mischa (talk) 12:05, 18 April 2016 (EDT)

Yes, the European Cup is for baseball clubs not national teams. - --SwatCat71 (talk) 17:54 18th April 2016

Not to be nit-picky, but Organized Baseball is probably genericized by this point, considering the vagueness of the term; I just checked Wikipedia and they don't have it capitalized[1]. Alex (talk) 12:09, 18 April 2016 (EDT)

Support It's nice to learn the full story of guys whose stat line in the majors is very short. Really a fascinating career. Like a lot of those articles, there's a bit too much statistics as opposed to descriptive prose, but at least there are a few interesting quotes that give a better sense of Ahearne as a person (I'm thinking of the comment by Jim Kaat in the CWS). --Philippe (talk) 13:22, 18 April 2016 (EDT)
