Biographical Information[edit]

Outfielder Austin Dean began his professional career in 2012.

He was taken by the Miami Marlins in the 4th round of the 2012 amateur draft. The scout was Ryan Wardinsky. With the GCL Marlins in 2012, he hit .223/.337/.338 with two home runs and 15 RBI in 47 games. He was with the Batavia Muckdogs and Greensboro Grasshoppers in 2013 and hit .262/.327/.416 overall. With Batavia, he hit a New York-Penn League-leading seven triples. Back with Greensboro in 2014, Dean hit .308/.371/.444 with 9 home runs and 58 RBI in 99 games to earn South Atlantic League Mid-Season All-Star honors. He began 2015 with the Jupiter Hammerheads.

Austin reached the major leagues with the Marlins in the middle of August in 2018, hitting .221 in 34 games with 4 homers and 14 RBIs. in 2019, he played 64 games in the majors and hit .225 with 6 homers and 21 RBIs. On January 14, 2020, he was traded by the Marlis to the St. Louis Cardinals in exchange for Diowill Burgos.
