Arlington, VA

Arlington is located in northern Virginia, across the Potomac River from Washington, DC and immediately north of Alexandria, VA. It is constituted from the segment of the District of Columbia which was given back the the state of Virginia in 1846. It is the site of Arlington National Cemetery as well as the Pentagon.

During the 1990s, there was talk of building a stadium here to host a major league team, either near the Pentagon or right on the banks of the Potomac, and the city was a finalist for the expansion of 1998. However, when the Montreal Expos eventually relocated to the area in 2005, they settled down in Washington itself and the Washington Nationals built their permanent ballpark within the limits of the District of Columbia.
