Biographical Information[edit]
Ina Kelley was a sportswriter. She began covering baseball in 1905 with the Trinidad Chronicle-News of Trinidad, CO under her maiden name Ina Eloise Young. She was a reporter for the paper and they needed someone who knew how to keep score after their prior baseball writer left. She became the paper's sports editor in 1907 and covered the Denver Grizzlies as well as the 1908 World Series. She was reportedly the only female sporting editor in the USA in 1908. Tim Murnane nominated her for membership in the Baseball Writers Association. After marrying in 1910, she moved to Denver, CO and was a sportswriter for the Denver Post for a year and a half.
