Biographical Information[edit]

Anthony Seise Jr. has pitched in the minors and for the Puerto Rican national team. His brother Chris Seise was a top draft pick. [1]

Seise was picked by the Colorado Rockies in the 20th round of the 2012 amateur draft, right ahead of future major leaguers Boog Powell and Tim Peterson. The scout was Damon Iannelli. [2] He struggled with the 2012 Grand Junction Rockies (14.46 ERA in 9 G, 15 BB, 7 WP, 4 HB in 9 1/3 IP), though he did fan 19) and 2013 Tri-City Dust Devils (8 R, 4 ER, 6 BB, 5 HB, 3 WP in 3 IP). Let go, he was signed by the independent Vallejo Admirals for 2016 and was 0-1 (2 H, 3 BB, 2 R, 1 ER in 2 IP).

Despite his pro struggles, he made Puerto Rico's squad (his father was Puerto Rican) for the 2018 Central American and Caribbean Games and was a big part of their Gold Medal run, their third ever in the event. On a staff with several players with long pro careers, including Fernando Cabrera, he wound up the ace. He showed surprising control in shutting down Cuba for 7 innings (7 H, 1 BB, 0 R, 3 K) before Bryan Escanio took over, outdueling Freddy Asiel Alvarez in a win. That would prove critical when Puerto Rico and Cuba tied at 5-2 and this game gave Puerto Rico the Gold. He also pitched 3 shutout innings (1 H, 2 BB) against Nicaragua; Escanio also took over then. He led the event in ERA (Octavio Acosta was second with 8 2/3 shutout innings). Only Adalberto Flores pitched more innings for the Gold Medal winners. [3]
