Biographical Information[edit]

Shortstop Chris Seise was the second of two first-round picks by the Texas Rangers in the 2017 amateur draft, being selected out of high school with the 29th pick; he had been preceded by OF Bubba Thompson three picks earlier. Seise's pick was received as compensation from the Colorado Rockies for signing Ian Desmond as a free agent. He signed for a bonus of $2 million.

Seise began his professional career in 2017 with the AZL Rangers, then after 27 games during which he hit .336, he was promoted to the Spokane Indians of the Northwest League. Combined, his batting line was .284/.330/.400 in 51 games, with 3 homers and 36 RBIs. However, after this fine start to his career, he missed the entire 2018 season after undergoing rotator cuff surgery on his right shoulder. In 2019, he played just 21 games for the Hickory Crawdads of the South Atlantic League then was again injured, this time with a torn labrum on his left shoulder. He hit .241 with 6 RBIs during the short time when he was healthy.

He is of mixed Puerto Rican descent, and his older brother P Anthony Seise Jr., has played for the Puerto Rican national team as well as in the minors.
