Biographical Information[edit]
Outfielder Anthony Iapoce was drafted in the 33rd round of the 1994 amateur draft by the Milwaukee Brewers. He played in the minors from 1994 to 2005, reaching AAA.
Iapoce coached hitters in the Florida Marlins minor league system from 2006 to 2009, with the Jamestown Jammers in 2006, the Greensboro Grasshoppers in 2007 and the Jupiter Hammerheads in 2008-2009. He then was the Toronto Blue Jays roving minor league hitting coordinator from 2010 to 2012. In 2013-2015, he worked for the Chicago Cubs as a special assistant to the General Manager for player development and in 2016 he was appointed hitting coach of the Texas Rangers staying until the end of the 2018 season, when manager Jeff Banister was let go. He re-joined the Cubs in 2019 as hitting coach, replacing Chili Davis and staying until the end of the 2021 season.
Iapoce became a manager with the Toledo Mud Hens in 2023. In 2024, he moved up to first base coach with the major league Detroit Tigers.
