[1] He was drafted by the Cleveland Indians in the 13th round of the 2017 Amateur Draft (the scout was Bob Mayer [2]), and he hit .194/.281/.389 for the AZL Indians in his first year. He struggled again at the plate as his batting line was .197/.285/.295 for the Mahoning Valley Scrappers, but he throw out 40% of those who tried to steal; he also went 5-for-18 for the Lynchburg Hillcats.

He then had a .175/.267/.400 batting line for the RA12 of the Puerto Rican Winter League in the winter. López played in 3 classes in 2021, but he only had 19 appearances combined. He hit .192/.305/.340 in winter ball, and he was 7-for-46 with the Akron RubberDucks. López also represented Mexico in the 2023 World Baseball Classic, but he didn't play in any games as Austin Barnes and Alexis Wilson were their catchers. [3]
