Biographical Information[edit]

Outfielder Allen Battle played 108 games in the majors during 1995 and 1996.

Allen's time at the University of South Alabama overlapped with that of several other future major leaguers, including Jon Lieber and Mike Mordecai. In the minors from 1991 to 1999, he hit over .300 at seven of his stops. With the Ottawa Lynx in 1998, he hit .304 with 34 stolen bases and 31 doubles, while with the Louisville Redbirds in 1994, he hit .313 with 44 doubles. With the St. Louis Cardinals in 1995, Allen was 14 years younger than teammate Ozzie Smith. While with the Oakland Athletics in 1996, he was five years younger than teammate Mark McGwire.

Through 2019, the only other major leaguers with the last name Battle are Howard and Jim Battle. Howard was also in the majors in 1995 and 1996.
