Biographical Information[edit]

Alexis Pantoja played in the minor leagues and for the Puerto Rican national team.

Pantoja was drafted by the Cleveland Indians in the 9th round of the 2014 Amateur Draft (the scout was Mike Soper), and he hit .250/.310/.285 for the AZL Indians in his first year. He improved to .309/.347/.394 in the AZL in 2015, but he struggled with the Mahoning Valley Scrappers as his batting line fell to .195/.214/.220. Pantoja then represented Puerto Rico in the 2015 Premier 12, and he hit .278/.278/.333 with a double and 3 RBI, fielding .923 as a utility infielder. He struggled again with the Scrappers as his batting line was .197/.226/.237 in 2016, and he also recorded a .309/.347/.394 batting line for the Tiburones de Aguadilla in winter. Pantoja improved to .251/.284/.307 in 2017 with the Lake County Captains, again in a utility role.

The Puerto Rican slumped to .205/.243/.243 in 2018 with the Lynchburg Hillcats, and he also played 24 games with a .190/.220/.215 batting line for the AA Akron RubberDucks. Pantoja then hit .284/.306/.388 for the Cangrejeros de Santurce, and he also appeared in the 2019 Caribbean Series (going 1-for-6 with a double and a run). He was released after hitting .257/.304/.317 for the RubberDucks in 2019, and he recorded a .221/.270/.353 batting line in Santurce in the 2019-2020 season. Pantoja then signed with the Arizona Diamondbacks in 2021, and he went 2-for-8 with the Amarillo Sod Poodles. He also played 3 games with a 1-for-11 record for the Tri-City Valley Cats, and he hit .217/.329/.250 in winter ball. Pantoja then hit .250/.315/.360 for the independent Kane County Cougars in 2022, and he recorded a .163/.21/.184 batting line with the Gigantes de Carolina in the winter. He improved to .297/.355/.379 in 2023 with the York Revolution, and he hit .255/.286/.319 in Carolina.
