Biographical Information

Adolfredo González played for the Venezuelan national team and in the Venezuelan League.

González helped Venezuela win the 1944 Amateur World Series, their second Amateur World Series. He tied two Mexicans for the event lead with two homers, though he would only hit three in 360 games in his later pro career. He also was with Venezuela for their 1945 Amateur World Series crown, hitting .382.

When the Venezuelan League formed in 1946, he joined the Patriotas de Venezuela but hit .217/?/.235. He batted .203 and slugged .289 in 1946-1947 but hit two of his three homers in the VWL, tying for 5th in the league. He improved drastically in 1947-1948 with the Navegantes del Magallanes at .365/?/.443 with 20 runs and 18 RBI in 29 games. He tied for 5th with two triples and was second in average, .009 behind Vidal López and ahead of guys like Luke Easter and Roy Campanella.

In 1948-1949, he fell to .154/?/.179 for another roller-coaster turn. The next winter, he was in-between at .247/?/.281. In the 1950 Caribbean Series, he was 1 for 4 as a backup; the team had added Chico Carrasquel for the Series, forcing Adolfredo to the bench.

The Maracaibo native hit .264 and slugged .318 in 1950-1951. He was again sidelined in the Caribbean Series as Jim Dyck joined Magallanes for the 1951 Caribbean Series. González scored one run but did not get an at-bat. He batted .240/?/.281 in 1951-1952 and was one run behind Piper Davis's 30 to just miss cracking the top 10 in that department.

In 1952-1953, he hit .236/?/.246 for the Navegants and scored 26 times, then he closed out his career in 1953-1954 by batting .238/??.286 for the Gavilanes de Occidente. He had hit .240/?/.282 in 360 games in the VWL, with 34 doubles, 6 triples and 172 runs. At the time of his retirement, he was 8th in league history in runs, between Héctor Benítez and Luis Romero.
