2009 Japan-Korea Club Championship
After the Asia Series was canceled for 2009, the champion clubs from Nippon Pro Baseball and the Korea Baseball Organization met instead. They faced off in a one-game event in November following the 2009 Japan Series.
The KIA Tigers went ahead 1-0 in the first when 2009 Korean Series MVP Ji-wan Na singled off Dicky Gonzalez to plate a runner. In the 5th, Tetsuya Utsumi gave up a 2-run single to Na.
Hyeon-jong Yang pitched shutout ball to 5 innings before Michihiro Ogasawara hit a solo homer in the 6th to make it 3-1. In the 7th, the Yomiuri Giants rallied. 2009 Japan Series MVP Shinnosuke Abe cracked a 3-run homer. Alex Ramirez singled in two and both Yoshiyuki Kamei and Takahito Kudoh singled in runs for a 8-3 lead and a 7-run inning. Yomiuri would finish with a 9-4 win.
Takahiko Nomaguchi got the win and Wirfin Obispo the save.
Kamei finished with four hits.
