1995 American League Most Valuable Player Award

From BR Bullpen

The winner of the 1995 American League Most Valuable Player Award was Mo Vaughn of the Boston Red Sox.

It was an extremely tight vote, with Vaughn receiving 12 first-place votes and OF Albert Belle of the Cleveland Indians 11. Overall, Vaughn had 308 points to 300 for Belle. It was the closest vote in the American League since 1961, when Roger Maris edged out teammate Mickey Mantle by 4 points. In retrospect, Belle's numbers were much better than Vaughn's, but his divisive personality likely held down his vote total.
