History, Comments, Contributions[edit]
The 1981 Cincinnati Reds were led by pitcher Tom Seaver's 14-2 record and George Foster's 22 home runs. This team had the best composite record in the majors, but because of the split-season format instituted following the resolution of the player strike, the Reds missed out on the playoffs because they finished second in the NL West in both the first half and second half.
