The 1968 Oakland Athletics were the first edition of the team to play in Oakland, CA, after previous stints as the Philadelphia Athletics and Kansas City Athletics. The A's had never once finished above .500 in their entire stay in Kansas City, but they finished two games above .500 in their first season on the West Coast, a harbinger of success to come.
