The 1916 Philadelphia Athletics had the worst winning percentage in American League history (.235). They finished 40 games behind the 7th place Washington Senators! They also held the AL record for most losses, with 117, until passed by the 2003 Detroit Tigers, who had 2 more losses, but in 12 more games.
