History, Comments, Contributions[edit]
The 1910 St. Louis Cardinals were a bad team but good at one thing: drawing walks from their opponent. They led the majors by a wide margin by obtaining 655 free passes, or 4.28 per game, one of the highest totals of all time (the 1915 Detroit Tigers had 4.37). On May 4th, a game attended by President William Howard Taft, they coaxed 16 walks from the Cincinnati Reds in a 12-3 win, then on June 1st obtained 11 more in a game against the Phialdelphia Phillies.
