Biographical Information[edit]

Catcher Zane Chavez began his professional career in the independent leagues in 2009. He had been drafted by the Kansas City Royals in the 19th round of the 2005 amateur draft, but opted not to sign.

After hitting .339/.373/.498 with 83 hits in 70 games between the Grand Prairie AirHogs and El Paso Diablos in 2012, Chavez signed with the Baltimore Orioles and stayed in their system for two years, through 2014. After a promising first campaign in which he hit .292/.390/.433 in 80 games, he slumped to .267/.319/.401 in 51 games the next year. He returned to indy ball in 2015.

He was a Mid-Season All-Star in 2013.
