Biographical Information[edit]

Yu-Ning Tsao has played for the Taiwanese national team.

Tsao was with Taiwan when they won the 2010 Asian Junior Championship. In the 2012 World Junior Championship, he hit .231/.333/.231 with 5 runs and one RBI in 8 games as Taiwan's #9 hitter and starting center fielder; he had 13 putouts and no assists or errors. In the 2014 U-21 Baseball World Cup, he was an All-Star outfielder alongside Arnol Rizo Blanco and Seiya Suzuki as Taiwan won the title. The same year, he was honored as best supporting actor for a film shown at the Taipei Film Festival, showcasing his off-field talents.

Tsao batted .389/.389/.500 in the 2015 Universiade to finish 10th in average. In the 2015 World Port Tournament, he produced at a .211/.318/.316 clip with 15 putouts and one assist. As Taiwan's center fielder and leadoff man in the 2015 Asian Championship, he was 8 for 19 with two walks, six runs and six RBI in five games as they won Silver; half his runs and RBI came in a rout of Indonesia but he was also 3 for 4 in a win over Japan to give them the Silver rather than the Bronze. He tied Tzu-Wei Lin for the team lead in hits (one shy of tourney leaders Woo-sung Lee and Chuang Na) and he tied Lin for the team lead in runs. Only Chih-Chieh Su had more RBI (8) for Taiwan as Tsao tied Lin, Yu-Cheng Chang and Min-Hsun Chang for second on the club in RBI. He then played in the Asian Winter League.
