Biographical Information[edit]

Yu-Cheng Wu has played in the CPBL and for the Taiwanese national team.

Wu represented Taiwan in the 2018 U-15 Baseball World Cup. [1] In the the 2022 U-18 Baseball World Cup, he was 0-1 with a 2.80 ERA in three games. He lost to South Korea. Taiwan won Silver. [2] The TSG Hawks drafted him in the second round of the 2022 CPBL draft. Wu spent his rookie season with the Hawks in the minor league, having a 3-4 record with a 4.31 ERA. He ranked 6th in strikeouts in the minor league, 16 behind his teammate Po-Ching Chen. [3]

The Taitung native then made it onto Taiwan's roster for the 2023 Asian Championship. He relieved Danny Chang in the 4th inning against Palestine, pitched a shutout inning and struck out Omar Shublaq and Yunis Haleem. He then started against the Philippines, completed 7 1/3 innings with only one run allowed and got the win over Juan Paulo Macasaet. Taiwan was beaten by Japan and won Silver in the event.[4]

Wu made his CPBL debut on April 8 against the Fubon Guardians, and he allowed 5 runs in 5 innings to get the win over Kuo-Hao Chiang.
