Biographical Information[edit]

Young-wook Lee played in the Korea Baseball Organization and for the South Korea national baseball team.

Lee was drafted by the Samsung Lions in the 6th round of the 2008 KBO draft, and he was 0-for-7 in his first season. He played 88 games with a .249/.321/.363 batting line in 2009, and he became their starting center fielder in 2010. Lee hit .272/.360/.358 with 30 steals (tying Jong-wook Lee and Sang-soo Kim for 7th in the league), and he was 2-for-10 in the 2010 Korean Series; the Lions were swept by the SK Wyverns. Lee hit .232/.312/.350 in 2011, and he missed the next two seasons due to military service.

The Seoul native then represented Korea in the 2012 Asian Championship. He was 0-for-4 against the Philippines, and he went 0-for-3 against China. Cho then had a 1-for-3 record versus Pakistan, and he was 0-for-3 against Japan. He went 0-for-3 again in their final game against Chinese Taipei, and South Korea won Bronze in the event. Lee missed most of the 2014 season due to a wrist injury, and he played 40 games with a .208/.323/.264 batting line. He only had 38 appearances with the big club in 2015, and he hit .163/.212/.245 in 104 games in 2016. The Lions traded him to the KIA Tigers for Ki-joo Han after he spent his 2017 season in the minors, but he was 2-for-16 with them in 2018. He was then released by the Tigers, and his professional career ended.

Overall, Lee hit .243/.326/.337 with 232 hits and 12 homers in 9 seasons in the KBO. He had 73 steals in 96 tries.
