Biographical Information[edit]
Yoon-seok Choi played in the Korea Baseball Organization and for the South Korea national baseball team.
Choi was drafted by the SK Wyverns in the 5th round of the 2010 KBO draft, and he hit .092/.186/.118 in 47 games in his first year. He played 82 games with a .244/.395/.301 batting line in 2011, and he went 2-for-5 in the 2011 Korean Series. Choi batted .229/.359/.253 in 109 games in 2012, then he represented Korea in the 2012 Asian Championship. He was 0-for-1 against China, and he hit a single against Tariq Nadeem of [Pakistan national baseball team|Pakistan]]. Choi was 0-for-3 versus Japan, and he went 1-for-3 again in their final game against Chinese Taipei. South Korea won Bronze in the event.
He slumped to .194/.342/.254 in 45 games in 2013, and the Hanwha Eagles selected him in the KBO Second Draft (the KBO version of the Rule 5 draft). Choi missed the next two years due to military service, and he hit .125/.177/.125 in 11 games in 2016. He struggled in 2017 as his batting line was .219/.219/.219 in 21 games, then he mainly stayed in the minors until he announced his retirement in 2019. He was the defense coach for the Eagles minor team in 2022 and for their major team in 2023. He returned to the minors in 2024.
Overall, Choi hit .206/.335/.242 with 109 hits in 8 seasons in the KBO.
